“Upon being presented with a new job, the skill lays within having the
knowledge and ability to select, erect and correctly install to the maximum of
the roof’s potential”
Words of director Simon Hudson
Solar PV is very much horses for courses!
There are two ways to approach a solar installation - IGNORANT
and PROFESSSIONAL.
The ignorant installer:
Will turn up with his panels, his inverter and his mounting
frame, and he will fit his panels, connect to his inverter,
power up and be on his merry way, and he may do a nice neat
job, however, is it the job for you? And more importantly is
it the job for your roof!
Has he/she done their homework at the crucial design stage,
the most important stage? Any old Tom Dick and Harry can screw
solar panels to a roof.
Here
they are Tom, Dick, Harry and the young apprentice!
There
are many considerations to be taken into
account when installing solar, this is
not a one size fits all industry.
The professional
installer on the other
hand:
Will upon consultation discuss with the customer their needs
and what they want from the installation. To which the response
is usually as much ££££ from the installation
as is physically possible (there is nothing wrong with this,
after all we are all in it for the money, ok and a little bit
the environment!) This is where the design stage comes in and
strong consideration of all parameters have to be taken into
account. Once a detailed analysis of the location of the generating
equipment has been undertaken different scenarios of equipment
can be presented to the site installation.
A detailed site specific analysis report will contain information
on
Geographical
location
Orientation
Inclination
Irradiance
levels
History
of weather conditions to the specific location
Accurate
laser measurements of all potential mounting sites
Complete
shading analysis at different times of the day
Any
Potentially harmful chemicals to the equipment within the air
Salt
water damage for coastal towns
The professional installers will have the knowledge, ability
and experience to then take these parameters and advise and
recommend which equipment would best suit the site and its
environment.
At Efficient Energy Solutions Yorkshire we pride ourselves
in being the professional installer.
With thousands of panels and inverters to choose from and millions
of combinations of the two we leave the software to calculate
the output of a system within its own unique location.
Knowing through experience the current products available on
the market and more importantly knowing their strengths and
weaknesses allows us with the aid of the software to mix and
match panels and inverters to specific locations and then come
up with the optimum solution for you the customer and your
very own unique solar array. ‘Money is power right?’ No
wrong, power is money! With the feed in tariff, the more power
we make the more money it will generate.
With rising energy prices it has never been more important
to own an optimised system as oppose to a monkey fitted system.
Let’s remember this is a 25 year contract, a corner cut
on day 1 is a corner cut for the next 25 years.
This
is why at EESY we follow a strict procedure
of:

Selection
of equipment is key, whether it is from the
local supplier or the supplier based in Germany.
We have bought from all over the world and
shall continue to do so.
So it’s always
best to fit the most efficient
equipment right?
Wrong, the most efficient equipment is usually the most expensive.
Therefore it depends on the circumstances of the customer and
their needs. If the customer is particularly interested in
the best return on investment we can compare production of
an expensive highly efficient top of the range Sanyo panel
with for example a less efficient, less expensive middle of
the road Chinese panel. The software will display in the form
of a clearly visible chart which would be the better investment.
In a lot of cases the Sanyo panel will annually produce more,
however, not enough to recoup the extra cost in the initial
outlay in the purchase of the system. So when purchasing your
solar system allow us as professionals to guide, advise, recommend
and compare your optimum system.
Technology is moving at a rapid rate, and what is the optimum
system of today will not be the optimum system of tomorrow.
With a booming industry and a fantastic array of technology
already to select from: Monocrystaline, polycrystalline,
thin film, multiple junction, bypass diodes, transformer, high
frequency transformer or transformerless? String inverter,
central inverter, micro inverter, max power point matching
scope, dual max power point matching, tri max power point matching,
on roof, in roof, building integrated, temperature co-efficient,
positive or negative tolerance? safety protective devices,
cost vs efficiency, yield vs efficiency cable losses and correct
cable sizing.....
The list goes on, make sure you make the
right decision!
