Be
Sure to be Safe
As
a matter of due course each and
every one of our jobs undertakes
through examination relating to
the structural integrity of the
roof and wind load calculations
for the specific location. This
is an integral part of the design
process and requires the skills
of a specialist. All the work is
carried out by our fully qualified
chartered structural engineer.
A full report is issued, from which
confirmation of the suitability
of the design can be obtained or
alterations made. These alterations
could vary from type or amount
of panels used, lay out design,
amount of roof hooks or ballast
used, or even roof strengthening
work. Without these investigations
certificates cannot be issued verifying
the integrity of the installation
for the 25 year period. On top
of this, it provides you the customer
with invaluable peace of mind.
Structural Surveys
During
the site visit the engineer will
need access to the proposed location
of the solar panels inside and
outside. Information including
pictures and measurements will
be taken and recorded in preparation
for the report. The whole visit
shouldn’t take more than
an hour.

Wind
Load Calculations
This is a complex mathematical procedure taking into
consideration all kinds of parameters eg. Building
height, width, length, altitude, distance from coast,
dead loads, imposed loads, stress analysis, moments
of inertia, deflection analysis.......The list goes
on! Below is just one page of a report as an example.

This
may seem like a lot of work and a
lot of effort, however, we believe
it is necessary work and necessary
effort. Let us remember your solar
installation will be for a minimum
of 25 years.
